In our louder and louder world, says sound expert Julian Treasure, \u201cWe are losing our listening.\u201d He discusses five ways to re-tune your ears for conscious listening \u2014 to other people and the world around you:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Silence<\/strong>: Listen to no sound for 3 minutes a day helps to reset our ears so that we can listen well.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Mixer:<\/strong> Even in places like coffee shop, try to listen to as many individual channels as\u00a0you can hear. This way, ears hear multiple sounds and differentiate.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Savouring:<\/strong> This tip is about enjoying the most mundane sounds, as in as in listening to a dryer of a washing machine.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Listening positions:<\/strong> This is about active listening. By taking notes, expand on what was said or being critical, one can me conscious of\u00a0barriers\/filters to listening and play around with them.<\/li>\n<li><strong>RASA:<\/strong> The acronym stands for Receive, Appreciate, Summary, Ask (RASA).
