Since the recent launch of the new Savi W740 wireless headset from Plantronics, we have been receiving many inquiries regarding the differences between it and the OfficeRunner™.  For your reference, we created this presentation to highlight key competitive differences between the two models and it’s up to you to decide which model is best suited for your requirements.

The Plantronics W740 includes 3 wearing attachments: over the head (OTH), over the ear (OTE) and behind the head.  The OfficeRunner™ includes 2 wearing attachments: over the head (OTH) and over the ear (OTE).

The Plantronics Savi W740 connects to 3 communication devices, PC, mobile and desk phone.   The OfficeRunner™ has 2 way connectivity - PC and desk phone.

Talk-Time

The Plantronics Savi W740 claims up to 7 hours and unlimited talk time with a hot-swappable battery feature (second battery purchase required).  The OfficeRunner™ claims up to 12 hours of talk time in a one hour charge.

Headset weight

The Plantronics Savi W740 headset (only) weighs 22 grams.  The OfficeRunner™’s headset (only) weight is 22 grams (.78 oz.).  This is a special mention because both claim to be lightest.

Hearing Protection

Plantronics uses SoundGuard® which protects against sound levels above 118dBA. The OfficeRunner™ uses ActiveGard™ Technology, a patented technology owned by Sennheiser.

Range from base:

The Plantronics Savi W740 has a range of up to 120 metres between headset and base.  The OfficeRunner™ has a range of up to 120 metres.  Regardless of brand, the range can be affected by materials in the immediate vicinity of the base transmitter.

Note:  There is discrepancy with the range claimed by the OfficeRunner™.  It is common knowledge in the headset industry that the OfficeRunner™ is actually Sennheiser's DW Office Wireless Headset.  Based on published technical specifications, the range of the DW Office is up to 55 metres within a typical office and 180 metres with clear line of sight.
